| BRUCE ANCHORS IN SHORT SUPPLY
|
 |

April 21, 2006. Followers of the Waggoner and this Web site will know that I am a real fan of genuine Bruce anchors. I should be -- for more than 15 years I was the Northwest sales representative for Bruce, and my years pulling a Baby Bruce anchor through a sandbox at the Seattle Boat Show are remembered by many.

So it pains me to report that genuine Bruce anchors are -- temporarily, I hope -- out of production. A few years ago, Bruce International decided to get out of the small boat anchor business to concentrate on their offshore anchor business. The small boat anchors side was bought by Bruce’s Italian distributor, who continued production until sometime in 2005, and then stopped making the anchors.

With production now discontinued, new genuine Bruce anchors are few and far between in retail stores. If you’ve been thinking about a Bruce and find one, you’d better buy it.

I have a feeling the used market for genuine Bruce anchors is going to liven up.
