| GOOD NEWS ON FCC LICENSE APPLICATIONS?
|
 |

February 17, 2007.

Hi.

I recently moved to the NW and have found your guide very helpful in many aspects. I have a 25' Fisher Motorsailer in Des Moines.

I just wanted to share my experience with my recent FCC License submittal. I read your warnings about doing it over the Internet but found it easy and wanted to report that maybe they have made some progress getting the system to work.

I had some questions during the process and called the 1-800-225-5322 number, had no wait and the FCC specialist on the other end could not have been more helpful. She was able to pull up my application and tell me everything I was missing or needed to do.

The two key points on the electronic filing are that you have to do it twice, both starting with Form 605:
- For the vessel license ($160) - pick class "SA" and it will automatically guide you through the questions.

- For the restricted operator’s license ($60) pick class "RR" and it will automatically guide you through this.

The payment over the Internet using Form 159 and a credit card was also seamless and easy.

I think the combination of improvements in broadband connectivity on the client side and efforts by the govenrment to improve the experience have resulted in a system that works a lot better than when you tried it.

Thanks and keep up the good work!

Richard Nelson "Coot" Fisher-25' Ketch Des Moines, WA
