April 17, 2007. Here's the latest about this upcoming boating season at Tom and Ann's.

Greetings from Greenway Sound
The April, 2007 Newsletter – Our 23rd Season "There is no more pleasant place on Earth to be than on your boat in the Broughton Islands."

Come on up! Greenway Sound Marine Resort will be OPEN and ready for you by June 1. Tom and Ann will be there. The fine moorage is open and power is on. Our superb fresh produce supplier is ready to stock our store. The airlines are all in operation. The Park is ready for you to explore, and the fishing looks good. From last year, staff members Laura and Karinna are coming back, plus two new, interesting people are coming to help. They are Ken and Faye Husch from Calgary, on the Genesis. Truly, there is no more pleasant place on Earth to be than on your boat in the Broughton Islands, B.C., Canada.

What’s so special about Greenway? The Moorage has long, wide, red-carpeted docks for mooring, viewing, privacy, and walking. Your moorage includes subdued night lighting, unlimited fresh water with plenty for boat washing, clean restrooms, laundry and showers, and a great Park to explore. There is a fine store, with flown-in fresh produce and dairy. Your moorage includes garbage service. Also now there is our own FREE Wi-Fi.

What about the restaurant? The restaurant will be OPEN, by mid-June. With our fine new staff coming to help us run the restaurant, the great Greenway dinners are once again available to all. Ann will still be there to act as executive chef. Go ahead and book your group. See the dinner menu at www.greenwaysound.com/restrnt2.htm.

Restaurant OPEN FOR LUNCH from 11-2. Back by popular demand and now with our splendid crew for 2007, we can once again open for lunch. Lunch is always fun at Greenway. It never hurts to call ahead on VHF 66A for larger groups.

FREE WI-FI has been added for your enjoyment while mooring at Greenway. It is our own magnificent system based on a new satellite, and is broadcast to all places on the dock. It has speeds up to 11.0 MB. You only need an 802.11 transceiver for your computer. They are not expensive, even for a good one. Many computers have them built in, or they can be easily added using your USB port. Your computer will work on your boat anywhere in the marina. Thanks to all who helped us with this complex project.

Be sure to bring your ISP username and password. Using our wi-fi, you will need to know those to access your e-mail. Before you leave home, you might want to review how to switch from your DSL or dial-up settings to wi-fi (called LANs) to access your e-mail. It would be the same as if you were sitting in Starbuck’s. Our system is currently unsecured, meaning you don’t need a password from us, or that you even have to contact us first to use it. There is no limit as to how much you use it, so go ahead and enjoy it.

Another “cool” thing happened last season. We installed a big awning on the front windows of the restaurant. What a wonderful difference that made in the temperature in the dining room. It is so pleasant in there now, even when watching a setting sun. Many thanks to all who helped install the awning. It took many hands.

Would you like to leave your boat and fly home? Greenway is a great place to leave your boat while you fly home. We walk by it several dozen times a day, giving your boat a high level of surveillance. The power is on 24/7. You can leave a provision list with us for groceries to have for you when you return. We stock fresh produce and dairy through the season, and we can special-order goods for you if there is enough time.

Would you like to invite some guests aboard to see the Broughtons? Greenway is an impressive place to start and end your guest’s visit. The most successful guest visit time generally is 4-5 days. Have them fly up to Greenway, and you come in and pick them up. Then take them out for a tour around the Broughtons for a few days. On the last night, come to Greenway for a fine farewell dinner. Then see them off the next day on their floatplane. You will be sending them home with many wonderful lifetime memories.

Here is a synopsis of Greenway’s air service this year:
Kenmore Air leaves Kenmore, WA at 9:00 and Greenway at 12:30.

NW Seaplanes leaves Renton, WA at 7:45 AM and Greenway at 1:30 PM

Corilair (formerly Air Rainbow) leaves Campbell River at 10:00 and 3:30, and leaves Greenway at 11:30 and 4:30, daily through the summer.

Vancouver Island Air leaves Campbell River at 9:00 weekdays, MWF and Sat. at 3PM, and Sun at 11:00. Returns are an hour later from Greenway.

Pacific Eagle Air leaves Port McNeill at 9:30 and 3:30 daily, and leaves Greenway at 10:30 and 4:30 for Port McNeill.

NEW FOR 2007: Same-Day connections can be made from LAX, SFO, PDX, DFW, DEN, PHX, Yakima, Spokane, or South Sound TO Greenway, using Kenmore Air from Boeing Field (BFI) in Seattle to Campbell River (YBL), leaving at 12:30PM. Then take Corilair or Vancouver Isl. Air from YBL to Greenway, arriving 4:30. Southbound, leave at 10:30, connect to Kenmore at 2:40, be at Boeing Field by 4:00.

Go to www.greenwaysound.com Air Connection section for new flight information, links, and good routing for your guests and for yourselves.

(PASSPORTS ARE NOW REQUIRED FOR EVERY AIR PASSENGER TO the U.S.)

One last TIP: Be sure to tell your credit card issuer that you are traveling in BC, and that you plan to use your card. Without that warning, often they think your card has been stolen, and won’t honor it. We run into this a lot, especially with guests.

Greenway is still FOR SALE. There is quite an opportunity at Greenway for stronger, younger owners. We are open to all sorts of scenarios, so it could be a very good deal for someone. The whole story is on www.greenwaysound.com.
