CRUISE PIX & COMMENTARY
By James & Jennifer Hamilton

February 14, 2003. The 2003 Waggoner contains a number of notes and from James and Jennifer Hamilton, including their discovery that the official instructions for the time of slack water at Kildidt Narrows, far up on the central B.C. coast, were incorrect. It was at least partly due to their inquiry, I believe, that led to a notice being published recently in Canadian Notice to Mariners correcting the instructions. Meanwhile, the 2003 Waggoner has the new, correct information.

The following note just arrived from the Hamiltons, with a link to the cruising web site they created. I think it's a good job, expecially the link to the film clip of a log roaring through Kildidt Narrows when it's really running. James and Jennifer really get out there. If you want a feeling of what it's like to cruise year-round (summer especially) in these waters, you'll find their web site informative and entertaining. Here's their note to us, with the link to the web site.

Hello Bob. It was nice to chat with you and Marilynn at the boat show. The Waggoner booth certainly was busy -- you both must need a whole week to recover!

As promised, here’s a link to our website, www.mvdirona.com, where we’ve posted pictures of our recent Christmas trip to Desolation Sound and Princess Louisa Inlet. It was a most wonderful and memorable trip that will be hard to top next winter. I am still amazed that we were actually breaking ice in southern B.C. saltwater! There are also some pictures of our insane hike to the top of Mount Constitution from Rosario Resort, and our summer trip to the Hakai Recreation Area.

Cheers,
Jennifer and James Hamilton

P.S. The 2003 Waggoner looks great -- we are impressed with the accuracy, level of detail, and depth of research that you put into it. We look forward to spending many hours of cruising with it as our trusty wheelhouse companion as we have with previous editions -- it will be particularly useful for our trip around Vancouver Island this summer.
