| STERN-TYING ISN’T ALWAYS EASY
|
 |

February 15, 2007. “Stern-tying Suggestions?” reminds me of the time we had to stern tie in Conover Cove on Wallace Island in the Gulf Islands. All of the stern tie rings in the north side of the cove were taken, so we had to anchor in the south side of the cove and tie to a tree. To top it off, a cross wind was blowing through the cove. I had to reset the anchor at least three times to get the boat in a safe position to clear the dock and get the proper distance from shore. We didn’t have a reel on the stern for paying out the line, so my wife had to hand feed the line as I manouvered the dinghy. It took a full hour to get the boat into position and secure the line around a tree, which provided a full hour of entertainment for those on the dock watching.
